Officer Luz D’Urbano

Director, Police Athletic League (PAL) of North Miami

Officer Luz D’Urbano serves as the Director of the Police Athletic League (PAL) of North Miami, where she leads youth-focused initiatives that strengthen relationships between law enforcement, schools, families, and the community. Through her leadership, PAL provides mentorship, educational support, and recreational opportunities designed to positively influence the lives of young people in North Miami.

Born and raised in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Officer D’Urbano moved to Miami at the age of eighteen. Her multicultural background and ability to speak two languages allow her to effectively connect with the diverse communities she serves.

Officer D’Urbano has served with the North Miami Police Department for nine years. In addition to her leadership with PAL, she has taken on several specialized roles within the department, including Hostage Negotiator, Peer Support Team member, and liaison for the City of North Miami Emergency Operations Center.

Assigned to the Community Policing Section, Officer D’Urbano is dedicated to building trust and creating positive opportunities for youth. Her work focuses on mentoring young people, supporting families, and developing programs that encourage leadership, education, and personal growth.

Through her commitment to service and community engagement, Officer D’Urbano continues to make a lasting impact on the youth of North Miami while promoting a positive and collaborative relationship between the police department and the community.
